On the evening on December 10, 2009 around 30 MRCN employees, board members, donors, volunteers and friends came together to celebrate the accomplishments we have made together over the past year. Guided to the Rock Quarry House by luminaries, the group shared a potluck meal and enjoyed beer and wine from the great state of Missouri.
One of the highlights of the evening (beyond the food and drink, of course) was the wonderful music provided by Paul Grace. To the delight of everyone, he demonstrated his skills on the guitar, the fiddle, the mandolin AND the harmonica! Though less entertaining, a slideshow of the work MRCN has done in 2009 was also on display to accompany the music.
Party-goers also had the chance to hear a few words from Steve Burdic, President of the Board of Directors, and from Steve Johnson, Executive Director. The evening concluded with a raffle in which 6 lucky people won either an MRCN t-shirt or bottle of Missouri wine. Former AmeriCorps member Charles Laun also walked away with a new title- MRCN Volunteer of the Year. Despite having completed his time with AmeriCorps, Charles still comes into the office nearly every day to help where he is needed.
Overall, it was a great evening, and we hope to see even more people come out next year!
