1. The Clean Water 50 will officially start on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 8:00 a.m.  The starting point is Stump Island Access, Mile 226.5 in Glasgow, MO.  All boats will start together.

The Clean Water 15 will officially start on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 10:30 a.m.  The starting point is Franklin Island Access, Mile 195 in Boonville, MO.  All boats will start together.

2. Race officially ends at 5:oo p.m.  Boaters still on the Missouri River after 5:00 p.m. on October 9, 2010 are electing to continue independently of the race, but must communicate their intent to a safety boat operator.

3. All competitors who quit a race for any reason before the finish line must report to the race sponsor as soon as possible.

4. Each race craft must be propelled exclusively by paddle power (double or single blade) while on the water. No rowing configuration is permitted. No sail or kite is permitted.

5. All participants agree to appear in event related media coverage free of charge.

6. For any "shortcut" to be legal, it must have a flow of river water through it. Overland portages are not allowed. Portages over exposed "wing dams" for convenience are not permitted. Outside assistance is not permitted.

7. Outside Assistance: Food, drink, clothing, paddles and equipment other than canoes may be given to the competitors by spectators (or other competitors) as long as there is no physical help (in the way of forward motion) or interference with the other paddlers. Medical help, in case of sickness or injury, may be given to the competitors, but interference with other paddlers should be kept to a minimum.

8. Outside assistance that provides intentional aid in the forward progress of a canoe/kayak is not allowed. However, limited interaction between the competitor race craft, as is the case in most canoe and kayak marathon races, is acceptable. This will be restricted to only wake riding and wind deflection. No towing of race craft is permitted.

9. Infractions of any rule during the event will be grounds for disqualification to be reasonably and fairly determined by the Judges Committee.

10. Deliberate littering of the river is illegal. Teams must keep their trash in their canoes/kayaks and properly dispose waste when race is over.

11. All team members should understand there are serious risks involved in this endeavor. The hydraulics associated with many of the wing dams along the river are inherently dangerous. The greatest risk, however, is from the numerous large and small power craft that ply the great river. Constant vigilance, clear thinking and quick reaction will be essential at all times. Good judgment must dictate when it is time to rest. All boaters will enter this race at their own risk and will not hold this event's organizers, judges, officials and sponsors liable for accidents to personnel or damage to any property.

12. All participants in this Event must sign the "Amateur Athletic Waiver and Release of Liability."  This waiver is required by the United States Canoe Association for participation in this event.

13. Each racer must provide their own U.S. Coast Guard approved life preserver and wear it at all times while on the water.

14. One whistle must be carried in each boat, either securely affixed to a life vest or the boat in a manner which allows quick access in a personal emergency.  This is per the United States Coast Guard as part of our race permit.  It is the responsibility of the participant to provide their own whistle.

15. There are no restrictions on the design of the canoe/kayak.

16. The original craft must be paddled from start to finish. Repairs may be made to the craft during the race, but other alterations are not permitted.

17. Any part of the craft (rudders, outriggers, etc.) which will be below the water line during any portion of the race must be "on board" from start to finish.

18. In formulating the rules that govern this event, every effort has been made to foresee all situations and problems that may rise, however, officials of Canoe for Clean Water retain the right to change or amend these rules at any time without liability or recourse from any party regardless of the circumstances. Should such changes or amendments be made, every effort will be made to notify all entrants.

19.  Due to the amount of planning involved, there will be no rain date.

20.  All participants must attend the scheduled safety meeting prior to the start of the race.

21.  We reserve the right to revoke participation.
