This Summer, from July 24 – July 28,
racers from around the world will compete in the second annual
Missouri River 340.
At 340 miles, the MR 340 is the longest nonstop canoe and kayak race in the
world and the number of teams has nearly tripled since the first race in 2006.
Racers will compete in 5 categories: men’s
solo, men’s tandem, women’s solo, women’s tandem, and mixed tandem. The
race is a marathon with 1/3 of the teams unable to finish last year. The MR
340 offers an excellent opportunity for paddling enthusiasts to compete in a
world class river race, but it also offers several chances for spectators
and entire communities to get involved.
All racers are required to check in at 9
communities along the river. These checkpoints will serve as prime
locations to watch the race and for Missourians to reconnect with their
river heritage.
